Speaker Bios:

Dr. Louisa Ferrara-Gonzalez

Dr. Louisa is an internationally sought out mentor, advisor, consultant, presenter and clinical specialists on all topics related to neonatal/pediatric feeding and swallowing development and disorders. She has earned a doctoral degree in speech and language pathology and holds additional specialization as a:

 

·       Board Certified Specialist in Swallowing and Swallowing disorders

·       Board Certified Neonatal Therapist

·       Certified Lactation Counselor

·       Neonatal Touch and Massage Certified Therapist

·       Trauma-Informed Professional

 

Dr. Louisa has over 15 years of clinical experience working with medically fragile infants and children. Her clinical focus is on NICU infants and supporting parents as they learn all about their new, unique infant. As an active researcher, Dr. Louisa and her team at NYU Langone aim to advance the evidence to support appropriate feeding practices for infants admitted to the NICU and beyond. She publishes her research in high-standing, peer-reviewed journals. 

 

Dr. Louisa started a multi-state private practice to serve NICU families being discharged to home. Her 5 year goal is to have at least 1 certified neonatal therapist available in every state! She is also the Chief Clinical Officer at Sipple Care – an app used to screen for aspiration risk in infants. Additionally, Dr. Louisa serves on several national family-centered, perinatal and pediatric advisory boards, committees and programs to help support infants with and without feeding/swallowing difficulties!

 

As a strong advocate for the long-term outcomes of infants everywhere, Dr. Louisa has dedicated her career to improving their care through education to other professionals worldwide.

Dr Ann Kellams

Dr. Ann Kellams completed her undergraduate education at the University of Texas at Austin and Medical School at the University of California, San Francisco followed by Pediatric Residency at UNC Chapel Hill.  She was in general pediatric private practice for 9 years before joining the faculty at UVA School of Medicine.  She is a professor of pediatrics and vice chair for clinical affairs for the Department of Pediatrics and Director of UVA Breastfeeding Medicine.  She has been an IBCLC since 2007 and was in the first class of physicians certified by the North American Board of Breastfeeding and Lactation Medicine in 2023.  Her NIH-funded research relates to parenting education and safe infant care practices in families with low-income, and she is a former President of the Academy of Breastfeeding Medicine.

Ann Perry

Ann Perry, RN, IBCLC is a Lactation Consultant with experience in Labor & Delivery/Postpartum (LDRP), outpatient lactation, and the NICU. She holds degrees from East Tennessee State University and the University of Tennessee. Ann is passionate about supporting mothers—especially of medically fragile infants—in establishing and maintaining human milk feeding. She loves spending time with her grandchildren.
