Overview

Benzodiazepines are one of the most widely prescribed psychoactive medications. Benzodiazepines are prescribed for a variety of anxiety disorders and insomnia. While use in the short-term may be effective and indicated in some clinical settings, long-term use has very little proven benefit and serious risks. (CPSA March 2016 Clinical Toolkit
