The 2024 Southeast Regional Oncology Symposium is a one-day program designed

to address oncology updates including screening, treatment, and management to aid providers in developing the most effective plan of care for oncology patients to lead to improved patient outcomes and higher survival rates. Topics to include: prostate cancer treatment, supportive care including lymphedema prevention, and survivorship from a physician perspective.

Objectives
At the conclusion of this activity, learners will be able to:

  1. Discuss and describe current evidence-based screening criteria for various cancers to initiate appropriate diagnostic testing and referrals for appropriate and timely medical management.
  2. Review and discuss medical advances in oncology that continue to improve medical management and patient outcomes, including: new techniques in prostate cancer treatment and supportive care including lymphedema prevention.

This activity has been planned and implemented in accordance with the Essential Areas and Policies of the Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education (ACCME) through the joint providership of Quillen College of Medicine at East Tennessee State University and CHI Memorial Health System. Quillen College of Medicine, East Tennessee State University, is accredited by the Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education (ACCME) to provide continuing medical education for physicians.

 

 

CME Credit: Quillen College of Medicine, East Tennessee State University, designates this activity for a maximum of 5.25 AMA PRA Category 1 CreditsTM . Physicians should only claim credit commensurate with the extent of their participation in the activity.

Nursing Credit: Up to 5.25 (5.25 CH) continuing nursing education hours have been approved for this session of the program. East Tennessee State University College of Nursing is approved as a provider of nursing continuing professional development by the North Carolina Nurses Association, an accredited approver by the American Nurses Credentialing Center's Commission on Accreditation.

Occupational Therapy Credit: Approved by Occupational Therapy for Continuing Education Hours for a total of 5.25 CEUs.

Physical Therapy Credit: Approved by Physical Therapy for Continuing Education Hours for a total of 5.25 CEUs.

TN EMS Credit: Credit This program is approved for up to 5.5 hours of Cardiac/Medical/Trauma CEU for EMS personnel in Tennessee. GA EMS provides reciprocal credit for the TN EMS Certificate.

Social Work Credit: In order to claim NASW credits, the attendee will be provided an attendance certificate to submit to NASW along with a copy of the activity syllabus.

Nutrition Credit: In order to claim Nutrition credits, participants should retain documentation of their course attendance/participation for meeting their professional development requirements.
