  2. Discuss evidence supporting important strategies/ programs for delivering harm reduction services.
  3. List the 8 principles of harm reduction.
  4. Identify the elements of the Transtheoretical Model of Behavior Change.
  5. Discuss ways different health disciplines can support harm reduction.

A free recurring series designed for all health professionals to address hot topics related to interprofessional team performance and patient care. This series is created to guide team discussions.

Interprofessional Approaches to Supporting Harm Reduction

Key Speakers:

Bill Brooks, DrPH, MPH
Dr. Bill Brooks is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Biostatistics and Epidemiology within the College of Public Health at ETSU. His research focuses on addiction prevention, treatment, recovery, and harm reduction. He is a Faculty Affiliate of the Addiction Science Center.

Angela Hagaman, DrPH, MA
Dr. Angela Hagaman is the Co-Director of the Addiction Science Center. Her research focuses on opioid misuse prevention and treatment, substance misuse prevention and treatment, peer recovery support services, substance abuse prevention, Appalachian health outcomes, and workplace prevention.

Quillen College of Medicine, East Tennessee State University, is accredited by the Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education (ACCME) to provide continuing medical education for physicians.

 

CME Credit: Quillen College of Medicine, East Tennessee State University, designates this activity for amaximum of 1.5 AMA PRA Category 1 CreditsTM . Physicians should only claim credit commensurate with the extent of their participation in the activity.

Nursing Credit: Up to 1.50 (1.50CH) continuing nursing education hours have been approved for this session of the program. East Tennessee State University College of Nursing is approved as a provider of nursing continuing professional development by the North Carolina Nurses Association, an accredited approver by the American Nurses Credentialing Center's Commission on Accreditation.

Social Work Credit: In order to claim NASW credits, the attendee will be provided an attendance certificate to submit to NASW along with a copy of the activity syllabus.

Nutrition Credit: In order to claim Nutrition credits, participants should retain documentation of their course attendance/participation for meeting their professional development requirements.

Pharmacy Credit: Pharmacists will have access to 1.50 ACPE Credits accredited by The Tennessee Pharmacists Consortium for Education (TPCE) for Thursday, January 19, 2023. TPCE is accredited by the Accreditation Council for Pharmacy Education (ACPE) as a provider of continuing pharmacy education (0575-0000-23-001-L04-P), to those who participate in all sessions and complete the online activities required to claim credit. A participant code will be made available at the completion of the day for submission of ACPE credits.

TN EMS Credit: Approved by the TN Office of EMS for Continuing Education Hours for a total of 1.50 CEUs.

VA EMS Credit: Approved by the VA Office of EMS for Continuing Education Hours for a total of 1.50 CEUs.
