CHI Memorial Rees Skillern Cancer Institute will present the 2023 Southeast Regional Oncology Symposium on Saturday, January 14, 2023, at Embassy Suites, 2123 Lifestyle Way, Chattanooga, TN 37421.

The 2023 Southeast Regional Oncology Symposium is a one-day program designed to address oncology updates including screening, treatment, and management to aid providers in developing the most effective plan of care for oncology patients to lead to improved patient outcomes and higher survival rates.

Objectives
At the conclusion of this activity, learners will be able to:

  1. Discuss and describe current evidence-based screening criteria for skin, prostate, lung, and colorectal cancers to initiate appropriate diagnostic testing and referrals for appropriate and timely medical management.
  2. Review and discuss medical advances in oncology that continue to improve medical management and patient outcomes, including: role of surgical intervention in hepatobiliary tumors, advances in radiation technology, and improvements in surgical/medical management of gynecological malignancies.
  3. Explore and discuss the impact of a genomic VUS (variant of uncertain significance) and its application in clinical practice and the impact of a generic VUS findings in real-life case examples.
  4. Discuss new approaches to cancer detection and screening including technology used in multi-cancer detection tests and results from multi-cancer blood tests.
  5. Review current guidelines regarding treatment of oligometastatic breast cancer and explore future treatment options.

This activity has been planned and implemented in accordance with the Essential Areas and Policies of the Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education (ACCME) through the joint providership of Quillen College of Medicine at East Tennessee State University and CHI Memorial Health System. Quillen College of Medicine, East Tennessee State University, is accredited by the Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education (ACCME) to provide continuing medical education for physicians.

 

 

CME Credit: Quillen College of Medicine, East Tennessee State University, designates this activity for a maximum of 5.25 AMA PRA Category 1 CreditsTM . Physicians should only claim credit commensurate with the extent of their participation in the activity.

Nursing Credit: Up to 5.53 (5.53 CH) continuing nursing education hours have been approved for this session of the program.
