A recurring series designed for all health professionals to address hot topics related to interprofessional team performance and patient care. This will be followed by a guided interdisciplinary discussion. Please ensure you register prior to the session.

Objectives
At the conclusion of this activity, learners will be able to:

  1. Describe the rationale for integrated care
  2. Define the Primary Care Behavioral Health approach
  3. Discuss the Institute and its objectives as they align with 1 and 2 above

Registration

Target Audience:

 
Physicians including Family and Internal Medicine and OB/GYN Physicians, Pediatricians, Psychiatrists Surgeons, Emergency Medicine Physicians. Non-physician participants may include Advanced Practice Nurses and Nurses, Physician Assistants, Pharmacists, and Psychologists.
Instructional level of content is intermediate, focused on increasing awareness for those familiar with the Integrated Care Model and providing and discussing approaches for improving behavioral health delivery in the primary care setting.   

Speakers:

Jodi Polaha, Ph.D.

Received her B.S. in psychology from the University of Pittsburgh and her Ph.D. in child clinical psychology from Auburn University. Her professional passion was lit at the start of my career at the University of Nebraska Medical Center where she helped develop a program of integrated behavioral health and pediatric practices. In 2006 she joined the faculty in Psychology at ETSU to develop curricular elements around a doctoral program in clinical psychology with a special focus on primary care. She has played a role in the development of state policy around integrated practice and has an active program of research focused on integrated care as well as funded workforce development programs for developing integrated care in the region which have been federally funded. With these interests, she is very involved in ETSUs Interprofessional Education and Research Program, and was recently elected to the Board of Directors for the Collaborative Family Healthcare Association.

Matthew Tolliver, Ph.D.

Received his B.A. in Psychology from Berea College and his MA and Ph.D. in Clinical Psychology from East Tennessee State University. He is currently Director of Behavioral Health, Department of Pediatrics and Assistant Director of the Institute for Integrated Behavioral Health at the James H. Quillen College of Medicine East Tennessee State University.

Quillen College of Medicine, East Tennessee State University, is accredited by the Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education (ACCME) to provide continuing medical education for physicians.

Quillen College of Medicine, East Tennessee State University, designates this activity for a maximum of 1.00 AMA PRA Category 1 CreditsTM . Physicians should only claim credit commensurate with the extent of their participation in the activity.

Up to 1.00 (1.00CH) continuing nursing education hours have been approved for this session of the program. East Tennessee State University College of Nursing is approved as a provider of nursing continuing professional development by the North Carolina Nurses Association, an accredited approver by the American Nurses Credentialing Center's Commission on Accreditation.

Pharmacy Credit: Pharmacists will have access to 1.0 ACPE Credits accredited by The Tennessee Pharmacists Consortium for Education (TPCE) for Wednesday, January 26, 2022. TPCE is accredited by the Accreditation Council for Pharmacy Education (ACPE) as a provider of continuing pharmacy education (0575-0000-22-007-L04-P), to those who participate in all sessions and complete the online activities required to claim credit. A participant code will be made available at the completion of the day for submission of ACPE credits.

PT Credit: This activity is approved for 1.0 contact hours (0.1 CEU credits) for PT professional development.

Credit/Co-Sponsorship Statement:
Frontier Health is approved by the American Psychological Association to sponsor continuing education for psychologists. Frontier Health maintains responsibility for this program and its content. A total of 1.0 hrs. of credit are available. Participants will receive 1.0 hrs. credit for their attendance. Full attendance is required. Partial credit may not be awarded per APA guidelines.
